The Specialists

Players currently under contract:
Harrison Butker
Dustin Colquitt
James Winchester

Need for a starter: 7
Need for depth: 5

This one is pretty simple. The Chiefs are set at place kicker and long snapper with Harrison Butker and James Winchester respectively. The question here is if Dustin Colquitt should be brought back for his 16th season with the team. The Chiefs either need to cut him and bring in a new (cheaper) punter or at very least bring in some competition for him. If Colquitt is back as the Chiefs punter it won’t be the worst thing in the world, but his yards/punt number did drop a full five yards per punt lower than any other season in his career last year. With Colquitt turning 38 before next season, the odds of those numbers rebounding much (if at all) probably aren’t good. I love Colquitt, but I think it’s probably time to move on.

So let’s summarize where we’re at to close this up.
