2020 7-round mock draft brings risk yet reward for Chiefs
By Jalon Dodson
Round 4 (128) – Tyler Johnson, WR
Let’s take a look at the tried and tested adage—speed kills. The Chiefs love speed. With its own Legion of Zoom, the team boasts speedy, athletic receivers capable of frustrating any pass defense in the NFL. Reid has built his spread offense around Mahomes’ abilities and the excellent receiving corps, but adding extra help wouldn’t hurt anyone; especially considering the possibility that wide receiver Sammy Watkins might not see the field for K.C. in 2020.
That’s why this mock has the Chiefs selecting WR Tyler Johnson from Minnesota. Johnson is a big, yet speedy route runner who can burn safeties and overtake defensive backs in open space. While his best trait might just be his acceleration, he does have decent speed and would be an excellent addition to the Chiefs’ plethora of speedy talent. Great sideline awareness, which the Chiefs direly need, is one of his strong suits and makes Johnson almost a steal for this pick. He’s a vertical burner, while still having excellent route running skills.
