2. Pennel is Perfection

The in season addition of veteran defensive tackle Mike Pennel will be long remembered as one of the best mid-year additions in Kansas City history. After wisely listening to a certain Arrowhead Addict writer, Brett Veach signed the veteran journeyman after injuries along the Chiefs defensive front left a hole in the roster.

Perhaps what makes the Pennel signing even more sweet is that the New England Patriots had him on their roster during the preseason but cut him at the end of August to get down to their final 53.

While his journey here as been incredible, Pennel’s play in run defense for Spags’ defense has also be remarkable. There is no doubt that his presence has been integral in getting the run defense figured out and playing outstanding football over the last eight weeks of the season (when opponents are averaging 89 yards rushing per game).

There is no doubt that the addition of free agent Mike Pennel in October has been one of the best additions for the Chiefs in propelling the team to Super Bowl LIV.
