The Kansas City Chiefs are heading to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1969, and the Kingdom is buzzing with excitement. But according to Vegas, there is much more for the Chiefs to celebrate come Super Bowl Sunday.

The stage is set for the most exciting Super Bowl in recent memory with the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs set to have an explosive matchup to cap off a historic 100th season of NFL football.

Chiefs Kingdom is buzzing with excitement like no one has ever seen before, and for good reason. Despite so many heartbreaks and playoff disasters, they finally reached the big game after 50 years. Many Chiefs’ fans were not alive to witness the franchise’s matchup against the Vikings back in 1969, and they’re electric in anticipation for the February 2nd battle to begin.

According to Vegas, that excitement is likely to carry into the offseason, with the Kansas City Chiefs favored to win the Super Bowl.

Is it a wide margin? No, only 1.5 points according to Action Network, less then a field goal of separation. But for a game on a neutral field, with no major injuries by the 49ers, that is 1.5 points purely based on talent. The money line is also quite tight, with the Chiefs at -121 (Net 221) and the 49ers pulling +102 (Net 202), showing that the Chiefs are not favored by a wide stretch, but still favored nonethelelss.

In the Super Bowl, teams favored to win are 35-18 straight up and 26-25-2 against the spread, meaning Andy Reid‘s team has found itself in a favorable column. Chiefs fans interested in betting on the team also find themselves in a favorable position, with such a low money line to buy into.

The over/under for this game is interesting, sitting at a relatively high 53.5, or a base score of 26-27.5 (26-28). For a game that features San Francisco’s defense (second in DVOA) along with K.C.’s own defensive improvements, 53.5 is very high. Vegas is obviously betting on Patrick Mahomes showing up and exposing this 49ers defense, and in a major way.
