The Tennessee Titans have been without Adam Humphries since early December but he’s just returned to the practice field to potentially face the Chiefs.

On the first day of December, the Tennessee Titans picked up an important divisional win over the Indianapolis Colts for the sake of playoff positioning. Unfortunately it also cost them some offensive firepower as they watched wide receiver Adam Humphries leave with an ankle injury.

Humphries has never played since that moment.

The Titans ended up claiming the sixth and final playoff spot without Humphries, a major free agent addition this past spring, and even charged ahead to upset the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens. Now on the verge of making the Super Bowl, Humphries is finally healthy enough to return to practice and could conceivably join the team as they hope to topple the Kansas City Chiefs on the road at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

After emerging as a favorite target in Tampa Bay the last four years with Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers, the Titans signed Humphries away with a four-year, $36 million deal in the spring. In addition, the Titans also drafted rookie A.J. Brown to pair with Corey Davis and the rest of the wideouts already on the roster. The goal was to help revitalize a passing attack that never took off, at least with Marcus Mariota at the helm.

When the Titans shifted to Ryan Tannehill, the Titans fortunes most certainly changed, but the team still hasn’t seen much of what they could do with Humphries as a part of the passing arsenal. After being targeted over 100 times in Tampa Bay last year, Humphries has only 47 of them through 12 games. That said, he’s a very reliable target with a catch rate of over 78 percent. To date, Humphries has caught 37 passes for 374 yards and 2 touchdowns.
