The Kansas City Chiefs signed two more players—tight end Alize Mack and running back Marcus Marshall—to reserve/futures deals.

The Kansas City Chiefs have begun to sign a few players to reserve/futures deals this week as general manager attempts to get a headstart on the 2020 roster by securing a few developmental players for a closer look in the offseason. The latest players to sign with the Chiefs are familiar faces both in tight end Alize Mack and running back Marcus Marshall.

Both Mack and Marshall have already spent time with the Chiefs last offseason and as a member of their practice squad, at least for a limited time.

Marshall first joined the Chiefs after making the roster after rookie tryouts last May. He was able to land a spot on the practice squad during the regular season but was eventually waived to make room for offensive lineman Ryan Hunter, who incidentally was just added to the active roster in safety Juan Thornhill‘s spot after he was placed on injured reserve.

Marshall came to the Chiefs after finishing his career with James Madison, where he was part of a running back by committee. He finished his senior season with 78 carries for 446 yards and 6 touchdowns in 10 games. He posted more impressive stats in 14 games his junior year, including 11 touchdowns. He finished his two-year collegiate career with a healthy 5.9 yards/carry average.

A former tight end for Notre Dame, Mack entered the National Football League with the New Orleans Saints as their seventh round pick last spring. While he didn’t make the final roster, the Chiefs were interested enough to pick him up for their practice squad in November after releasing punter Jack Fox.

Clearly the Chiefs want to lean in a bit more into Mack’s potential, which is a good sign since the Chiefs have aleady been watching close. Mack had 36 catches for 360 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns in his final year with the Fighting Irish.

Next. The Chiefs could dominate Texans on both sides of ball. dark
