If Matt Miller’s mock draft is right, the Kansas City Chiefs come out of the first couple rounds of the 2020 draft with some incredible talent.

Mock drafts were already everywhere and that’s before the regular season even came to a complete close this last weekend. Fortunately they are also getting more and more substantive as time goes on—as draft analysts add more than just the first few picks or even the full first round.

The latest from Matt Miller over at Bleacher Report gives us a look at a three-round mock, allowing us to see who the impact players in a full draft class could be for various teams and, for our purposes, the Kansas City Chiefs. Even without free agency and with less overall selections than other teams, it’s quite clear the Chiefs will be able to add some considerable talent.

Let’s take a look at Miller’s mock and see if we agree with the pick.

1st round – No. 29 overall – Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU

Miller says: “Compared to other former LSU cornerbacks, Fulton could have an impact similar to what we’ve seen from Tre’Davious White in Buffalo. That would be a huge win for Kansas City late in Round 1.”

That comparison is music to the ears of Chiefs Kingdom, but it also makes it far-fetched to think he would be available around then. LSU has a penchant for putting out impact defensive backs (just look at Tyrann Mathieu for good evidence) and the Tre White comparison will only further enhance Fulton’s stock in the first round. Would a top-flight corner really fall all the way into the late-twenties?

If so, the Chiefs should absolutely follow in Miller’s footsteps here, turn off all their phones to avoid distractions and pick Fulton as soon as possible. White has been a revelation in Buffalo as a Pro Bowl corner who has somehow filled the shoes of Stephon Gilmore (only a handful of players could even say this). Interestingly enough, White was Buffalo’s pick at the Chiefs original draft slot after they traded out of No. 10 so the Chiefs could grab Patrick Mahomes back in ’17.

Back to Fulton. The guy has the athleticism to stay with anyone and has great closing instincts to make plays on the ball. He’s also never afraid to get physical with opposing receivers from the moment they try to release off the line. He’s been a beast in coverage against some of the best receivers in college football this year, and there’s no doubt he could step right in as a starter for the Chiefs on the outside opposite Ward.
