The Kansas City Chiefs have the week off, and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy will have interviews with the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers.

Eric Bieniemy is ready for another round of interest.

Last year at this time, no less than four teams indicated at least some level of interest in Eric Bieniemy as a head coaching candidate after he completed his first year as offensive coordinator under Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. The end result was a single interview with the New York Jets and ultimately a return to the job he did so well in K.C.

This year, Bieniemy is once again expected to be a hot coaching commodity and both the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers are the latest teams to check in. In fact, NFL reporter Ian Rapoport says the Panthers have officially requested permission to interview Bieniemy this week as the Chiefs enjoy a week off due to grabbing the No. 2 seed in the AFC. The Panthers are also reportedly interested in Patriots O.C. Josh McDaniels.

Second on the list, per NFL reporter Adam Schefter, is the New York Giants, who decided to move on from Pat Shurmur after two seasons in the Big Apple.

Bieniemy was already linked to the Washington Redskins earlier this fall after former head coach Jay Gruden was fired. However, the team has now reportedly turned their attention to former Panthers coach Ron Rivera. The Panthers have major questions at multiple positions, including what they want to do at quarterback with Cam Newton, but Bieniemy would bring some offensive creativity to a team that already has plenty of star talent like Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore, Curtis Samuel and more.

Bieniemy, 50, has been with the Chiefs since Andy Reid’s first season, serving as running backs coach through 2017 before taking over the entire offense.
