25. OLB Dee Ford
After spending a couple of years behind Tamba Hali and Justin Houston, Dee Ford eventually got his chance and proved he can help the Chiefs defense continue getting to the quarterback. Ford finished with 30.5 sacks in five years with the Chiefs.
Ford did miss 13 games with the Chiefs in the span of three years. Ford was also heavily criticized for being offsides on a play where the Chiefs came away with what could have been the game-sealing interception during the AFC Championship game. But Ford still did a lot of good things in his time with the Chiefs and deserves a spot on the list.
24. WR Jeremy Maclin
After the Chiefs threw zero touchdown passes to wide receivers in 2014, Jeremy Maclin came in to help improve the receiving core in Kansas City. Maclin led the team with eight touchdown receptions and 1,088 yards in 2015.
Maclin was one of three wide receivers to catch for 1,000 yards for the Chiefs. Tyreek Hill and Dwayne Bowe were the other two.
23. CB Sean Smith
Using Sean Smith’s statistics would not help his case for being part of this list. He had just five interceptions in three years with the Chiefs. However, Smith still thrived in Kansas City and was an underrated cornerback. Smith was one of the league’s top cover cornerbacks, rarely allowing wide receivers to break through for big gains.
Smith worked alongside Brandon Flowers and Marcus Peters during his time in Kansas City, which gave the defense multiple viable cornerbacks at the same time for a couple of seasons.
22. C Mitch Morse
The Chiefs found a valuable center in Mitch Morse in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Morse quickly made an impact as one of the best centers in the league.
After allowing just 2.5 sacks in 15 starts his rookie year, Morse did not allow a sack in the following 34 starts in Kansas City. Although Morse missed 14 starts in the final two years with the Chiefs, his ability to keep pass-rushers away from getting sacks was something Alex Smith and Patrick Mahomes benefitted from.
Although Morse no longer plays for the Chiefs, his performance in Kansas City earned him a deal where he became the highest paid center in the NFL.
21. P Dustin Colquitt
As a punter and holder for the Chiefs, Dustin Colquitt has handled both duties very well. Colquitt has spent all 15 years of his career with the Chiefs, which led him to playing in the most games as a Chief in franchise history.
Colquitt recently surpassed 50,000 yards punting off more than 1,100 punts. He was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2012 and 2016.
