Welcome back to another edition of Around the AFC West. Yes, my heart rate has finally dropped to WNL. (That’s medical abbreviation for “within normal limits” that all medical doctors use, but don’t look it up. Just trust me it’s true.) Wow, was that a thriller! It caused my father to ask me the following question: do you have ten minutes to talk about the game? Of course I do!

But, before I dive into the Kansas City Chiefs victory, let’s take a look at the rest of the losers of the AFC West (I can say that because it’s true)…

Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders hosted the Tennessee Titans in hopes of keeping their playoff dreams alive. The Titans have been a hot team with Ryan Tannehill under center and are threatening to overtake the Houston Texans for control of their division. The Raiders could not contain the suddenly explosive Titans offense when they went for 3 touchdowns in 7 minutes in the second half. There was no looking back from that point.

What was probably the most troubling for the Raiders was that Josh Jacobs missed the game with the lingering shoulder injury he has been dealing with. It certainly did not help their sputtering offense when their best player could not go. The Raiders also likely lost tight end Foster Moreau for the season with a knee injury.

Regardless, it does appear that the Raiders are done. Their season is effectively over (barring some miracle). With the Raiders loss and the Kansas City Chiefs win, the Chiefs are saying thank you. The Raiders lost finally clinched the AFC West for the Chiefs again.

Next week, the Raiders hold the last contest in Oakland hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars are again not good and it seems unlikely that they will be able to pull of a win against a team motivated by leaving their stadium with a final win. I would anticipate that the Raiders walk out of this with a win (which I wouldn’t mind because it drops them down the draft board).

Opening line odds for the Raiders in Week 15: -6.5.

Game time is 3:05 p.m.
