The Kansas City Chiefs welcomed running back Damien Williams to practice on Wednesday for the first time in weeks.

For the first time since he was injured during Week 11, running back Damien Williams was able to join the Kansas City Chiefs for practice on Wednesday, a good sign he will be able to play in Week 15 against the visiting Denver Broncos.

Williams hasn’t played since he hurt himself in Week 11 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Even after the bye week, Williams remained out and was soon joined among the injured ranks by Darrel William, creating an issue for the depth chart. The team signed veteran back Spencer Ware in response to the injuries to help with overall talent and depth alongside LeSean McCoy and rookie Darwin Thompson.

Ware got the most carries last week of any back, which shows maybe just how much the Chiefs have missed the all-around talents of Damien Williams. Williams can carry the lead as a primary back who can also block as well as catch the ball reliably.

Williams started out the year struggling to match last year’s productivity that earned him a two-year extension from Brett Veach last December. He has 83 carries to go with 309 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Williams also has 23 catches to go with 156 receiving yards as well.

Will the Chiefs keep Ware for the rest of the season? If so how will the workload be shared among the guys who are left? Will Darwin get any more chances to develop in year one? How much (and for what) are the Chiefs resting Shady? It will be interesting to see how things shake out in the weeks to come in the backfield.
