What Chiefs-specific thing are you most thankful for?

Arrowhead Addict is celebrating Thanksgiving by pausing to reflect on the Chiefs-related player or thing for which we’re most thankful.

We certainly hope your Thanksgiving holiday is turning out splendid and that you’re able to spend quality time with those who are closest to you, family and friends. Here at Arrowhead Addict, we are certainly thankful for so much—nothing more so than your readership. We appreciate so much each of you who allow AA to be a part of your life as a Chiefs fan.

We asked a few of our writers to tell us what they were most thankful for if the answer had to be Chiefs-specific.

Looking back several years, I want to remain thankful for the chance to root for a team that remains successful year after year and never take for granted what that’s like when so many other NFL franchises are not only sitting at home every January but they also have so little reason to believe their fates might change. We’re all hungry for a Super Bowl, but it’s nice to know the Chiefs will be in the running, at least, for the foreseeable future. [Matt Conner]

I’m thankful for the Panthers choosing Graham Gano over Harrison Butker in the summer of 2018, leaving Harrison Butker on their practice squad. I’m not thankful Cairo Santos got injured, but since he did, I’m thankful he did it early enough that the Chiefs were able to pluck Butker before the Chargers could have, while they were running through their carousel of kickers and losing games. [Scott Loring]

I’m thankful for Andy Reid. He’s got his flaws, no doubt, but he has brought incredible stability to the Chiefs. This team is nearly a lock for the playoffs every season, which today’s fans take for granted. That hasn’t been the case here for a long time. Now, he’s brought the final piece of the puzzle to the team. It’s only a matter of time before this franchise brings a Lombardi trophy back to Kansas City. [Jordan Mannix]

As a Chiefs fan, I’m most thankful for Brett Veach’s offseason moves. Securing Tyreek Hill for the long term hasn’t slowed him down despite initial skepticism. His recent draft picks have all been contributors thus far on the team, and his offseason signings have helped lead the team in their own ways. Despite constant criticism of his decisions, Veach has improved the Chiefs this season. [Byron Smith]

I’m thankful for the experience of Arrowhead. There is no stadium like it with the tailgating and the fans. Even though we have been questioning the dominance of Arrowhead this season, make no mistake, fans of every other team flock to Arrowhead because it is a great place to watch a game. Not every team can brag about that, but we certainly can. [Ellen Tolsma]

As a Chiefs fan, I am thankful for the real opportunity of a Super Bowl. My father has been following the Chiefs since they defeated “The Purple People Eaters” in the Super Bowl. I am thankful that he has hope that the Chiefs can return to the big game once more under Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. [Grant Tuttle]

I am thankful for the offense. Even when Patrick Mahomes was missing Tyreek Hill and/or Sammy Watkins, or even when he was out, the Chiefs still found ways to move the ball and even win. This is a great example that injuries are never an excuse. [Farzin Vousoughian]

Travis Kelce. He has quietly had a great season, and has gotten so little credit. He has been clutch throughout games, especially with Matt Moore. He’s also taken on a strong leadership role that compliments Pat very well. [Thomas Welte]
