The Tennessee Titans are potentially giving former Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Joey Ivie a place to land after his release.

The Kansas City Chiefs saw enough of Joey Ivie in Week 11 and, consequently, decided to release him to make room for new talent on the roster. The Tennessee Titans apparently saw enough of Joey Ivie in that same game, as the Chiefs opponent, to sign him to their practice squad.

The Chiefs released Ivie in the wake of their shocking loss to the Titans and signed defensive end Demone Harris away from the Baltimore Ravens practice squad to take his place. The Chiefs are experimenting with players along the defensive front who can help in the wake of injuries to Breeland Speaks, Xavier Williams, and Alex Okafor.

Ivie played in 27 snaps in the Chiefs loss to the Titans, and clearly the Titans liked what they saw. Ivie will hope to impress them enough to earn a contact and join his fifth NFL team and first after his release from the Chiefs. In previous seasons, Ivie has also played for the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks, and Atlanta Falcons .

The time taken for Jurrell Casey to get back on the field might be enough to get the Titans to make a move to sign Ivie. He’s missed the last two games due to a shoulder injury that continues to linger.

Ivie earned his first ever playtime time in an official NFL game this season and ended up playing in five games for Andy Reid‘s team. Ivie had two tackles, one quarterback hit, and two quarterback pressures.
