Worst Case Scenario: Chris Jones Walks

There exists a scenario where Kansas City lets Chris Jones hit the open market, and that scenario likely results in Jones wearing another uniform. If that were the case, the Chiefs would have some nearly impossible shoes to fill in terms of production and leadership on the defense.

While this certainly is the worst-case scenario on this list, there is a silver lining. Javon Kinlaw from the University of South Carolina has been red hot this season and has a very similar build and skill set to that of Chris Jones. Kinlaw has been a hot name in the NFL Draft community this season.

Kinlaw has identical measurements to Jones at 6’6 and 310 pounds. Similarly, Kinlaw routinely puts offensive lineman on skates with his long arms and power rush moves. The South Carolina defender has flashed explosiveness and strength at the point of attack that should draw comparisons to Chris Jones. If Kansas City is going to lose Jones, Kinlaw may be their best shot at replacing him.
