The Kansas City Chiefs will have their starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes in place against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon.

It’s official. The NFL will have their reigning Most Valuable Player back on Sunday as news broke Friday afternoon that Patrick Mahomes will be standing under center for the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans .

The Chiefs have been without Mahomes due to a dislocated kneecap suffered against the Denver Broncos three weeks ago. At first the injury appeared more serious but an MRI (and more) confirmed that Mahomes would miss a minimal amount of time compared to initial fears. Mahomes has even returned to practice in previous weeks in a limited role, but he’s just now ready to take back over his starting role for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs have fared better than expected without Mahomes as Matt Moore entered the lineup for the last two-plus weeks. The Chiefs stood tall against the Green Bay Packers before losing a close game and then came back to beat the talented Minnesota Vikings in back to back games—two of the toughest opponents on the team’s schedule. Now Mahomes will face the Titans on the road in Nashville in his return.

Mahomes will have a full arsenal at his disposal for the first time this season with the positive health of all of his playmakers. Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins, Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman and more will all be available, giving the Chiefs (and the NFL) the first real look at the team’s dynamic offense this season. Hill left early in Week 1 with a clavicle injury and remained sidelined for weeks.

The Chiefs are not out of the woods concerning injuries. Eric Fisher is still unsettled at left tackle after missing the last several weeks. He did return to practice this week, but the Chiefs offensive line as a whole has suffered multiple injuries this year. Mahomes might be working with more than one backup along the line for both Fisher and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif.

Mahomes is 5-2 as a starter this season for the Chiefs with 15 touchdown passes and only 1 interception.
