Terrell McClain is taking a tour of the AFC West as he has just signed with the Oakland Raiders shortly after his release from the Chiefs.

In a matter of just a few weeks, veteran defensive tackle Terrell McClain has crossed off one half the AFC West from his list of employers.

The Kansas City Chiefs released McClain a week ago after they decided instead to import defensive lineman Mike Pennell instead. McClain played in only two games for the Chiefs as they dealt with numerous injuries, but the Chiefs apparently weren’t enamored with his performance and moved on to another experienced option.

Fortunately for McClain, his time as a newly released free agent didn’t last long. The Oakland Raiders announced the signing of a few veterans, including McClain to bolster their defensive front. The Raiders also signed center Erik Magnuson and linebacker Will Compton.

The Chiefs originally signed McClain in the wake of a devastating series of injuries to the heart of the defense after a Week 5 loss to the Colts. Xavier Williams was sent to injured reserve shortly after the game and Chris Jones was lost for an indefinite period of time moving forward—with his return still to be determined three weeks later.

McClain registered only 3 total tackles in two games played for the Chiefs as he filled in rotational duty behind Derrick Nnadi, Khalen Saunders and Tanoh Kpassagnon.

For the Raiders, McClain, 31, does bring a wealth of experience with eight teams over eight years in the NFL. His best year came in 2015 with the Dallas Cowboys, with whom he spent 3 full seasons, as he made 15 starts and had 39 tackles, forced 2 fumbles, had 2.5 sacks, and 7 quarterback hits.
