Orlando Scandrick regrets ever leaving Cowboys for Chiefs, Eagles

Former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Orlando Scandrick says he’s never felt at home other than with the Dallas Cowboys.

The good news is that Orlando Scandrick saved the venomous for the Philadelphia Eagles. However, it doesn’t sound like the veteran cornerback was overly happy during his time with the Kansas City Chiefs either.

To rewind, Scandrick, who is now a free agent, recently showed up on the sports talk show Undisputed as a guest with Shannon Sharpe and an example of one of those old men talking heads who says extreme things. On the show, Scandrick laid into the Eagles organization and specifically called out the team’s culture and leadership in a series of fiery statements.

When it came to his time with the Chiefs, which lasted just a single year in 2018, Scandrick clearly didn’t feel as comfortable as he did in Dallas where he spent the majority of his career.

“Just being a part of that Dallas Cowboys organization for so long and then going to be a part of two other organizations, I never really felt like at home. If I could take back one thing or one regret I have in my whole entire sports career, it would have been to stay with the Dallas Cowboys organization through thick and thin,” said Scandrick.

To his credit, Scandrick did add, “”I never had any ill will toward anybody in Kansas City. I thought that was a great organization. Andy Reid is a great leader.” Kansas City clearly just wasn’t Dallas, a place filled with people he called “family” later in an interview with Colin Cowherd.

Given the fact that general manager Brett Veach offered him a single season contract and chose not to bring him back again is likely proof that both sides felt the same way about each other. The Chiefs weren’t exactly loaded with corners coming into the offseason, but their willingness to let Scandrick walk without even a rumor that they were interested in re-signing him makes it clear that he was bound to leave for another team.

Scandrick had 44 total tackles, 13 passes batted, and 1 interception for the Chiefs last season.
