There are a number of other players on the Lions who could become available if the team were to have some sort of fire sale, but it’s hard to tell what would compel the Chiefs to move forward. A few examples here.
Danny Amendola, wide receiver
Amendola is a known quantity around the NFL as a slot receiver with a penchant for getting open with experience and intelligence along with an underrated agility that’s kept him gainfully employed for much longer than the average career. Amendola signed with the Lions this offseason to provide production from the slot and, when he’s healthy, he’s done just that with two games over 100 yards receiving. He’s on a one-year deal and the Lions could turn a youngster loose in his place if they knew they weren’t going to compete.
As for the Chiefs, a draw like Amendola would be about adding a sure set of hands for a further option on offense who also happens to have a Super Bowl ring or two. The Chiefs aren’t hurting for weapons, but Amendola would certainly provide security in case Sammy Watkins can’t stay healthy or if the team isn’t quite ready to trust their younger hands in the postseason just yet.
Graham Glasgow, offensive line
The Lions would be silly to get Glasgow walk just because he’s ready to be a free agent. As a native Michigander, Glasgow is in a perfect role as a power-blocking guard who brings tremendous toughness to the offensive interior.
For the Chiefs, a move for a player like Glasgow doesn’t make much sense for the sort of athletic pulls that Andy Reid wants from his offensive front. Glasgow is a versatile product, to be sure, and the Chiefs could use a talent upgrade, but this is just not an ideal fit despite Glasgow’s schedule of being a free agent at season’s end.
