Team Leadership Comes From Unlikely Sources

Patrick Mahomes is the unquestionable leader of the Kansas City Chiefs, and without him on the field, the offense should have looked lost against the Denver Broncos. Look at how the Pittsburgh Steelers are doing without Ben Roethlisberger. So how was Kansas City still able to put together some offensive success through the rest of the game?

Matt Moore had three previous plays with the offense, so it was not going to be him. The veterans on the line were busy overcoming injuries and protecting Moore with their life. So it fell on Tyreek Hill to rally the offense and keep the momentum going.

According to reports, Hill stepped into that role immediately, not letting a moment go past without emphasizing how important it was to keep playing hard and rolling with the momentum.

The same Tyreek Hill who had fans wondering if he would even be on the team this season stepped up when it was necessary. The player who has been a divisive subject among fans across the league was the team leader in the absence of Mahomes.

Kansas City holds the No. 2 seed in the AFC by a single game, and they need every win they can get to hold onto that lead, so getting a win against Green Bay would be extremely important. Hill has to make sure that he leads the team effectively both on the practice field and the game field this week, capitalizing on every snap and pushing players to play as hard as possible until the clock hits zero.
