Zach Brown, Inside Linebacker

Specs: Former 2nd round pick (2012) by the Titans, 8 year NFL vet, 29 years old, 6’1″ 250 lbs, downhill tackler, run stuffer

The Why: Brown is an above average run-stuffer who plugs a major hole in the middle of the Chiefs struggling defense. He plays downhill and regularly makes tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage. In addition, he has been a starting linebacker at each NFL stop. Many have used his multiple stops as a reason why teams should be hesitant to sign the 8 year veteran.

It is a concern that he’s so quickly worn out his welcome in several NFL locations, but his talent and upside, coupled with what the Chiefs believe is a strong team culture, should have very few hesitations at making such an obvious upgrade at such a position of need. It’s not often that caliber linebackers become free agents at mid-season, so Brett Veach should pounce at the chance.
