Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Tight End

Specs: Former 2nd round pick (2014) by the Bucs, 5 year NFL vet, 27 years old, 6’5″ 262 lbs, experienced, excellent blocker, reliable hands

The Why: A former second round pick who is just 27 years old still on the market this late in the season? The Patriots released the veteran in June to attend to personal matters. But, those were only expected by last a month and by all accounts, the reliable end is available to sign with any team. Seferian-Jenkins has just 116 catches and 11 touchdowns in 5 NFL seasons. But, he has reliable hands, and is an excellent blocker in both the passing and the running game.

According to managing editor of Last Word on Football David Latham, “Seferian-Jenkins was one of the better run blockers in the league last year…but Pro Football Focus rated him as the sixth-best run-blocking tight end in the league last year.” This is precisely the type of addition the Chiefs should be looking to make down the stretch.
