Final Thoughts
Kansas City remains the two seed for the AFC, but if things don’t begin to turn around quickly, it could get ugly. Without a bye week until Week 12, there is little time for the team to regroup and get healthy. The Chiefs travel to Denver for their second AFC West matchup of the season before hosting the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers. Both will be tough.
As I mentioned at the beginning of the article, all three phases of the team have looked bad in their embarrassingbback-to-back losses at home. Injuries certainly played a role in the struggles, but the lack of discipline and lack of adjustments by the coaching staff should be getting a majority of the ridicule. Kansas City was able to move the ball again in the first half with Tyreek Hill back and getting the running backs involved in both the running and passing part of the game. The second half looked more like what we saw against the Colts in Week 5.
Andy Reid has to get his team in gear if he doesn’t want to sustain yet another loss. Between calling long developing plays downfield without his top two receivers, an offensive line with two backups on the left side, and a hobbled Mahomes, Reid is cooking up a disaster that could lead to a more serious injury for his star quarterback. It’s also another game where penalties really crippled the team with 11 accepted penalties for 79 yards on the day.
We have seen what this team can do when they are even mostly healthy. Let’s just hope that they can get there before it really starts to hurt their season. With the AFC Conference being weak this year, it could benefit Kansas City.
