Nate Orchard, DE

Free Agent Nate Orchard is among the top 4-3 defensive end free agents available. And, he finds himself on this list due to his time spent with Kansas City last season. While he ultimately did not stick here and did not see significant playing time, his familiarity with Reid and Veach make some difference when considering where the team should turn.

After the 2018 season Orchard signed with the Seattle Seahawks briefly, before spending camp with the Miami Dolphins, where he led the NFL with 4 sacks (in the preseason).

Now a free agent once more, Orchard brings pass rushing ability to a team in desperate need of it. While he is not the best run defender, getting any sort of pressure on the quarterback in the absence of Okafor, Jones and Frank Clark (who is only functionally absent, rather than actually absent) would be nice.

The Chiefs wouldn’t bring in the 2015 second round pick to start, but he would make a quality depth piece for a team in need. The 6’3″, 251lb former Utah Ute could make an impact if the team brings him back to K.C., even if he’s undersized for a traditional 4-3 DE.
