The Kansas City Chiefs welcomed the Colts into Arrowhead Stadium in primetime on Sunday Night Football, to try and keep their unbeaten season alive.

The atmosphere and the fan base was incredible in Kansas City for the Chiefs first primetime game for the 2019 season. However, that excitement and passion quickly turned into nerves as the contest against the Indianapolis Colts got moving.

The Chiefs got the ball first in this contest and went on a 12-play drive, driving 64 yards before eventually stalling out and electing to kick a 29-yard field goal which Harrison Butker nailed to give the Chiefs a 3-0 lead.

The Colts did not panic; in fact, they had a clean drive that saw them literally run down the throat of the Chiefs defense with absolutely no resistance. The Colts went on an 11-play drive that netted 70 yards and was capped off with a one-yard dash into the end zone by Jacoby Brissett.

Down 7-3, Patrick Mahomes had to respond, and boy did he ever. On an 11-play drive of his own, Mahomes capped the Chiefs drive with a 27-yard touchdown pass that will live in NFL lore for a long time. Byron Pringle, who enjoyed a breakout game of sorts, brought in the most impressive of his six catches on this play.

After taking a 10-7 lead, Adam Vinatieri tied the game by kicking a 32-yard field goal after a seven-play drive that lasted just over 2 minutes. After a Kansas City Chiefs three-and-out, The Colts were able to tack on three more points right before the halftime break as Vinatieri hit another 32-yarder with 3-seconds to go in the second quarter.

The third quarter saw the score remain the same with both teams going back and forth with punts and key defensive stops. The Chiefs suffered a number of key injuries during this quarter as well, including Chris Jones on the defensive front and Andrew Wylie and Patrick Mahomes on the offensive side. Mahomes would remain in the game, but would struggle on a sore ankle for the duration.

Finally in the fourth, the Colts were able to drive the ball given the number of injuries for the Chiefs. Marlon Mack and the Colts ran the ball again and again and the Chiefs could do little to stop them. The Colts added two more field goals to make it a two possession game, and costly penalties or poor decisions led to stalled drives for the Chiefs. By the time the Chiefs got anything moving late in the game, it was too late.

Final: 19-13, Colts.

Up next, the Kansas City Chiefs who have seen their fair share of injuries already, have to take on the Houston Texans with Deshaun Watson and company coming off their best offensive performance of the year.
