Kansas City Chiefs have only faced unbeaten teams during 4-0 start
The odds of this happening are very low. All four of Kansas City’s opponents were unbeaten as the Chiefs handed those all four teams their first loss.
After a 34-30 win against the Detroit Lions, the Kansas City Chiefs improved their record to 4-0. On top of that, the Chiefs have done something that they’ve never done in the first four games in franchise history.
The Chiefs visited the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1. Obviously, both teams were 0-0, given it was the first game of the season. After a 40-26 win in Jacksonville, the Chiefs visited the Oakland Raiders in Week 2 as both teams were 1-0. The Chiefs left Oakland with a 28-10 win.
In what was hyped as one of the biggest games in Week 3, the Chiefs played their home opener against the Baltimore Ravens. Both teams came into that game 2-0. The Chiefs won 33-28 and were 3-0 following that game.
Going into Week 4, the Chiefs were 3-0, but the Lions were not. The Lions tied the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. Despite the tie, the Lions won their next two games. Coming into this game, the Lions were 2-0-1, not having lost a game this season coming into Week 4. Despite the struggles, the Chiefs came away with a 34-30 win in Detroit to go to 4-0.
With the Chiefs cruising to 4-0, they faced unbeaten teams each week, handing each of these teams their first loss of the season. That trend will end next Sunday night at Arrowhead when the Chiefs play host to the Indianapolis Colts, who are 2-2 through the first month.
Starting 4-0 is impressive for any team in the NFL. But even more so for the Chiefs, given they have done so by playing three of their first four games on the road against teams that had yet to lose. Kansas City has one of the harder schedules in the NFL, but they have proven that they can play with the best since Patrick Mahomes has started under center for the team.
