The Philadelphia Eagles added former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback D.J. White to their practice squad on Monday.

A familiar face signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday with news that former Kansas City Chiefs defensive back D.J. White had landed on the team’s practice squad, per Eagles beat writer Daniel Gallen.

White originally entered the National Football League with the Chiefs as part of their 2016 NFL Draft class under former general manager John Dorsey. White was a late round flyer on a cornerback with upside and potential special teams player out of Georgia Tech who turned Dorsey’s head enough to turn in the pick.

White was a three-year starter for the Yellow Jackets who earned honorable mention honors in the ACC and showed solid ball skills in the team’s secondary. His senior year, he had 41 tackles, 2 interceptions and 8 batted passes, and his stock seemed to rise with a strong showing at the NFL Combine, where he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds and had the second longest broad jump of 132 inches—just behind Jalen Ramsey. In fact, NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein projected him as a third round pick.

Unfortunately, White’s NFL career hasn’t lived up to any buzz or billing. Despite being a sixth round pick, White was cut short of his second full season with the Chiefs in November, 2017. He played in only 11 total games for the Chiefs, making 11 tackles and a single interception in that span.

After the Chiefs cut him, he caught on with the Indianapolis Colts on waivers and stayed with the team through the following September. From there, he had a single stint earlier in 2019 with the Washington Redskins but that didn’t work out either. Now the Eagles are his fourth team and even this will be a stretch given that he’s a veteran on a practice squad.

Next. The Chiefs have to improve in these 3 areas. dark
