Kansas City Chiefs 53-man roster projection leaves Carlos Hyde out
Offensive Line
On The Active Roster: Eric Fisher, Mitchell Schwartz, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Andrew Wylie, Austin Reiter, Cam Erving, Jeff Allen, Nick Allegretti, Kahlil McKenzie
Practice Squad: Dino Boyd, Pace Murphy
Cut: Zack Golditch, Ryan Hunter, Jimmy Murray, Chidi Okeke
If there is one position group where I am the least confident in my prediction it may be the offensive line. I believe the nine I have are the most logical choices. Fisher, Schwartz, LDT, Wylie, and Reiter are locks. While I have never been a fan of Erving, his experience and versatility make him a safe bet too. I don’t think they would have signed Jeff Allen this late in the preseason if they didn’t intend on keeping him for the regular season.
I believe rookie Nick Allegretti showed enough that the Chiefs shouldn’t risk putting him on the practice squad. In fact, I almost left Kahlil McKenzie off the final roster because of Allegretti. Ultimately, I think they’ll give McKenzie one more year to make the transition to the offensive line. I personally think Dino Boyd and Pace Murphy showed the most promise, but it wouldn’t shock me if they kept Ryan Hunter or Jimmy Murray for the practice squad either.
The good news is that I’m not too worried about the offensive line. I like their starting group and think they have enough depth to survive an injury or two and still be alright, but if I’m being completely honest I’m not exactly confident in how all the depth spots end up.
