Kansas City Chiefs 53-man roster projection leaves Carlos Hyde out
Special Teams
On The Active Roster: Harrison Butker, Dustin Colquitt, James Winchester
Practice Squad: none
Cut: Jack Fox
There isn’t a lot to discuss here. Harrison Butker looks rock solid as K.C.’s kicker. James Winchester was the only long snapper in camp. The only potential competition here was between Dustin Colquitt and rookie Jack Fox. Fox looked fine in his limited chances in camp and the preseason but Colquitt has always played ahead of Fox. You have to think that if K.C. was going to unseat their longest tenured player, it would have to be because Fox clearly outperformed Colquitt and I don’t believe that to be the case.
Perhaps the Chiefs will decide that Fox has been good enough that its worth saving nearly $1.5 million to cut Colquitt. I just feel like we would have heard some whispers about it by now. After all, while the NFL is a business, blindsiding a well-liked and long-tenured Chief like Colquitt seems a little harsh.
So there you have it. That’s my 53 man roster projection for the 2019 Chiefs. Do you agree? Do you think I missed anyone? Did I include anyone that you don’t think will make the team? Do you agree with me that they may look outside the current roster for a tight end and another cornerback? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below.
