Tyreek Hill, Mitchell Schwartz expected to miss practice for Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs will be without two of their best players in training camp practice on Wednesday with news that Hill and Schwartz are out.
Fans visiting the Kansas City Chiefs at training camp in St. Joseph on Wednesday won’t see two of the team’s best players in action with the unfortunate word that both Mitchell Schwartz and Tyreek Hill aren’t expected to practice.
For Schwartz, he’s missed two straight days with a back that “locked up” on him, a rare such occurrence for the NFL’s reigning iron man. Schwartz holds the league’s active record for most consecutive snaps so any time missed is a surprise. Of course, this early in training camp, attendance means very little for such an excellent veteran. Still, it’s a situation to watch if a back injury lingers further into the preseason.
As for Hill, he suffered the quad contusion after colliding with cornerback Bashaud Breeland in practice on Tuesday. He was taken off on a cart (albeit in the front seat and not the back) and was attended to by team’s trainers before news broke that it was a quad injury. It’s not a surprise to see the Chiefs allowing Hill’s injury to heal as needed without pushing things late in July.
Speaking of Hill, further news could break anytime on a long-term extension with the wide receiver. Agent Drew Rosenhaus is reportedly talking with Brett Veach and the Chiefs front office to work something out in the last 24 hours. It’s hard to believe that something won’t be announced soon enough.
A full injury report will be given after today’s practice with more details on both Schwartz and Hill’s future availability.
