5. A New Defensive Front

Here is some shocking news that may or may not surprise you: the Chiefs’ front-seven is scary. As the team transitions from a 3-4 defensive scheme to 4-3, the defense will feature two defensive ends and two defensive tackles in its base scheme. With Chris Jones serving as a defensive tackle, the player next to him remains a question. The Chiefs drafted Khalen Saunders in the third round of the draft, but former 2018 third-round pick Derrick Nnadi had a very impressive rookie campaign and staked his claim as a starter.

In what will be an interesting battle, Nnadi and Saunders will likely compete for the starting role next to Jones. Both have tremendous upside, and regardless of who actually lands the starting job, the both of them will undoubtedly make an impact in the upcoming season.

As it stands right now, Nnadi has the higher claim to the starting role, but could potentially get dethroned depending on who ‘wins’ the battle. Training camp will be full of positional battles, but this one will be among the most interesting. Frank Clark, Saunders, Jones and Alex Okafor does sound like a pretty scary starting lineup.
