November 8, 1992 – Chiefs vs. Chargers

They don’t come a lot uglier (offensively) than this one. Kansas City had one offensive touchdown (Christian Okoye, the Nigerian Nightmare, had a two yard run). San Diego scored two second half touchdowns but came up short, and Kansas City eked out a 16-14 victory to move to 5-4 on the season.

Charger QB Stan Humphries was sacked six times, threw a pick, and collectively San Diego fumbled the ball five times en route to one of the more pathetic offensive outputs in my memory. Derrick Thomas led the defensive effort on the day. The Chiefs star sacked Humphries four times and wreaked havoc in the backfield in helping to hold the Bolts to 50 yards on the ground, and led the charge late to keep Kansas City in the lead.

This may be true for multiple games on the list, but K.C. doesn’t win this one without DT58.
