Online sports betting sites currently are not accepting wagers on the Kansas City Chiefs opening game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The NFL schedule has been revealed. Matchups have been analyzed. Now that the NFL schedule is past the draft and the bulk of free agency, plenty of sports bettors are already placing their wagers on the upcoming season—especially the opening week, all in an attempt to take advantage of preconceived ideas, good and bad, about each team.

Somehow, however, the Kansas City Chiefs opening slate against the Jacksonville Jaguars has been taken off the board. A trip over to Bovada reveals the (current) ability to bet on any single game but the Chiefs vs. Jags contest has been crossed out. Over at BetOnline.ag, the game is simply not listed.

If it was just one site, it could be seen as a potential glitch, but it’s interesting to note that both teams have a bit of a mystery at this point. For the Jaguars, perhaps Vegas oddsmakers simply don’t like a team whose quarterback leaves for mysterious reasons. On Tuesday, it was announced that the newly-signed Nick Foles wouldn’t be present at OTAs for the week and that there was “no timetable” for his return.

"“Nick’s been communicating; it’s a personal situation,” said head coach Doug Marrone. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Nick and his family. He knows, like anything else, that we’re here for him.”"

It’s very possible that Vegas simply doesn’t want to leave odds hanging out there until the situation is explained or resolved. A starting quarterback affects pretty much everything, so if this were the beginning of a long, unfolding saga of some kind for Foles, perhaps Vegas just decided to remove the Jaguars until things are settled.

That said, it could also be the Chiefs. Tyreek Hill is a Pro Bowl talent capable of altering a game in myriad ways, and he’s still on the Chiefs roster—for now. Will he be with the team this year? If so, will he be available or suspended? If he’s suspended, when does it start? Perhaps Vegas, once again, doesn’t like the unsettled nature of Hill’s situation. It is interesting, however, that at BetOnline.ag, you can start to bet on Chiefs games in October.

For reasons unknown, for now, the Chiefs and Jags aren’t yet available for bettors this season. At some point all of these situations will be resolved, as will the odds, and wagers will be made on the Chiefs opening slate.
