The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly released former Brigham Young center Tejan Koroma from their active roster after the 2019 NFL Draft.

The competition along the offensive interior has claimed its first victim for the Kansas City Chiefs with the reported release of Tejan Koroma from the active roster.

The Chiefs added some further competition to the roster during the 2019 NFL Draft and subsequent signings of undrafted free agents or rookie minicamp invites.

In the seventh round, the Chiefs added another potential threat for a backup roster spot behind center and guard in seventh round selection Nick Allegretti, a lineman out of the University of Illinois. Allegretti played in 48 games in college and has started 36 consecutive games at either guard or center for the Fighting Illini, giving him a nice body of work experience coming into minicamp with the Chiefs.

Allegretti will compete with other roster hopefuls like last year’s sixth round choice Kahlil McKenize and second year prospect Jimmy Murray, who signed last year as a rookie free agent from Holy Cross.

Koroma came to the Chiefs in the same way as Murray last year and looked like he could compete but he was lost due to injury for the entire season. He spent the year on injured reserve with the Chiefs, but clearly the team is ready to move forward with the competition thinned just a bit.

The Chiefs have brought in a few undrafted free agents this year as well, including Bruno Reagan, a center from Vanderbilt; Alex Fontana, a center from Kansas; and Maurice Simba, a lineman from Concordia.
