Round 7 – Pick 216 – Nick Allegretti – G/C – Illinois

Anticipated impact as a rookie: 2.9
Long term upside: 6.7
Overall excitement for the pick: 5.9

While Nick Allegretti may not have scored through the roof with the AA staff his scores weren’t too bad for a seventh round interior offensive lineman. Understandably, Allegretti had the lowest score of the draft class for anticipated impact as a rookie but the staff did find some considerable upside and excitement for a late round pick.

"Chiefs got a steal with Nick Allegretti and there’s a good chance Allegretti is the Chiefs starting center this time next year. -Thomas Welte"

My two cents: If I’m being honest, I didn’t know anything about Nick Allegretti when his name was announced as the Chiefs’ final pick of this class. So my initial reaction was basically “meh”. However, as I did a little digging after the selection I quickly came around. He was one of Pro Football Focus‘s top rated pass blockers this past season and in four years of college he only allowed four quarterback sacks in over 1,200 pass blocking snaps. He’s also REALLY smart as he reportedly scored a 42 on the wonderlic test (one of the highest scores in this draft class). That’s a lot to like about a guy drafted in the 7th round.

So there you have it Chiefs fans. That’s how the Arrowhead Addict staff rated the Chiefs 2019 draft picks. Do you agree with our overall scores? Are there guys in this draft class that you would score a lot different than our average scores? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below.
