Round 6 – Pick 201 – Rashad Fenton – CB – South Carolina

Anticipated impact as a rookie: 3.0
Long term upside: 4.1
Overall excitement for the pick: 3.6

Unfortunately, Rashad Fenton was hands down the staff’s lowest scoring draft pick of this class. Despite playing a position that is widely viewed as one of the Chiefs biggest needs, Fenton’s anticipated impact as a rookie score was 0.1 points away from being the lowest of the class. His long-term upside and overall excitement scores were not only the lowest of the class but they were both over two full points lower than the next lowest.

"Fenton was an uninspiring pick who will carve a spot out on special teams as he tries to develop. -Thomas Welte"

My two cents: I’m with the rest of the staff in that Fenton was my least favorite pick of this draft class. Hopefully he proves us all wrong. I also can’t help but wonder how much better Mark Fields (who the Chiefs signed as an undrafted free agent) would have scored here if he was the one that Kansas City had drafted and Fenton was the UDFA. Personally, Fields scores would have been easily twice as high for me than Fenton’s were. It will be interesting to see how those two compare once training camp and the preseason games roll around.
