The 2019 NFL Draft is in the books and the Kansas City Chiefs walked away with six new players. Here’s how the AA staff rated the picks.

The 2019 NFL Draft is now officially behind us. The Kansas City Chiefs ended up drafting six new players over seven rounds. While this piece will focus on those six players actually drafted by the Chiefs, you can also include Frank Clark and all of the undrafted free agents that K.C. has added as part of their all-around haul.

On Monday, after the draft is officially over, “draft grades” are officially distributed. Fans from every team scour the internet looking for feedback on how their team did with the picks that they had.

Here’s the problem. Ultimately, draft grades often don’t really give you much useful information. Unless the “grader” goes in depth on each pick, you are left trying to decipher what the “C-” they gave your favorite team’s third round pick means. Do they not like the talent level of the player? Do they not think it was good value at that spot? Plus, the grades can vary from person to person so much it’s hard to get a consensus on any one pick.

So what I decided to do was to try and get some feedback on how the Arrowhead Addict staff felt about the players that the Chiefs drafted this year. I asked the staff to rate each pick on a scale of 1-10 in the following three areas.

1. Anticipated impact as a rookie
2. Long term upside
3. Overall excitement for the pick

A big thank you to all my fellow writers here at AA who contributed and an extra special thanks to Grant Tuttle and Thomas Welte who added some addition insights to go with their scores. By averaging all our responses together you can get a feel for how our staff as a whole feels about these new Chiefs.

Let’s start things off with the Chiefs first selection of this draft.
