Tight End: Kahale Warring – San Diego State

There are plenty of good tight end prospects for the Chiefs to target in this draft class but my personal favorite is Kahale Warring of San Diego State. He’s not an elite prospect like the Iowa tight ends that will go in the first round or the polished route runner like Jace Sternberger, but he’s got really intriguing upside.

All you have to do is put on his tape for a few seconds and you’ll see that Warring looks like a physical beast. He’s listed at 6-foot-5 and 252 pounds but he looks even more physically imposing than that. Warring only played one year of high school football. He was a multi-sport athlete that also played basketball and water polo. He’s still very raw and definitely needs technique work but you already see the potential for a complete tight end who can be a physical presence as a blocker, an athletic route runner, and a guy that can go up and make a highlight reel grab.

For me, the thought of adding a physical specimen like Warring to pair with Travis Kelce is just too tempting. He may need some coaching and time, but I think Warring has the potential to develop into as good of all around player as any tight end in this class.

Runner Up: Dawson Knox – Mississippi

Mississippi had a plethora of receiving options last season and it simply didn’t leave a lot of targets for Dawson Knox. However, much like George Kittle while at Iowa, Knox shows some intriguing upside despite not being utilized much in college. He’s a willing blocker who has great athleticism. He’s not near as high up on my draft crush list as Warring, but he’s still a really tempting mid-round option for the Chiefs.
