Wide Receiver: Andy Isabella – UMass

Andy Isabella is another guy who’s game just seems tailor-made for the Chiefs offense. I listed Isabella in THIS POST that I did on receivers that were a perfect fit for the Chiefs. The reason I am so high on the Chiefs drafting him is that he would be a fantastic addition to this offense as it already stands—an excellent weapon in the slot with his good route running and reliable hands.

However, should something disconcerting happen with the Tyreek Hill situation, Isabella would absolutely be able to help fill in for Hill as a deep weapon thanks to his blazing 4.31 forty time (which shows up on his tape). The Chiefs will likely have to move on from Sammy Watkins after this season and Isabella would be a great long-term replacement for him as well.

Like Darrell Henderson, Isabella would likely need to be a target in the second round if the Chiefs wanted to land him, but I feel like his game is 100% worth it. He put up almost 1,700 receiving yards last season and Pro Football Focus had him ranked number one in this draft in receiving yards per route run.

Runner Up: Gary Jennings – West Virginia

Gary Jennings is an underrated receiver in this draft class, and I absolutely love his fit with the Chiefs. Jennings played pretty much exclusively out of the slot the past couple of seasons but still filled two very different roles in those seasons. In 2017, he was used as a possession receiver, totaling 96 receptions but only one touchdown. Then in 2018 they used him as a deep threat out of the slot to stretch the field and while he only totaled 54 receptions they went for 13 touchdowns and a staggering 17 yards per completion. This ability to fill different roles in the offense would make him a nice addition for the Chiefs in the mid rounds.

Next up, a couple of tight end draft crushes.
