Week 5: VS Indianapolis Colts, 7:20 PM Central, October 6th (Sunday Night Football)

Prediction: KC 35, IND 21

This game is projected to be kind of close. The Colts, led by quarterback Andrew Luck, will be able to match the Chiefs’ offensive pace, but they will fall short in what could turn into shootout. Colts head coach Frank Reich is doing a good job at surrounding Luck with young talent, but the Chiefs have a plan in mind that seems almost too good to fail. Don’t forget the fact that the Chiefs pummeled the Colts last postseason.

Week 6: VS Houston Texans, 12:00 PM Central, October 13th

Prediction: KC 38, HOU 24

The Houston Texans will be the toughest match-up of the earlier half of the season—a true test, even at home. The Chiefs will have to go up against quarterback Deshaun Watson and surmount the likes of wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and defensive end J.J. Watt. While not impossible, it will be no easy feat. The Texans, according to this prediction, will be the team that comes close to breaking through the Chiefs’ newly formed defense.

Week 7: AT Denver Broncos, 7:20 PM, October 17th (Thursday Night Football)

Prediction: KC 28, DEN 17

With a short 4-day week to prepare for the Denver Broncos, the Chiefs will have a tough primetime road match-up ahead of them. The Broncos are almost always a formidable opponent against the Chiefs, primarily due to the fact that division games are harder no matter the case. Head coach Vic Fangio, who was hired in the offseason by the Broncos, is a defensive-minded coach  that can only build on the somewhat successful Broncos defense of the 2018 season. It will be one of the tougher challenges for the Chiefs, but they will still be able to get the job done and move on to 7-0.

Week 8: VS Green Bay Packers, 7:20 PM, October 27th (Sunday Night Football)

Prediction: KC 45, GB 24

The Chiefs have some ghosts to chase away (2-4 last season) when it comes to playing in primetime, but they’ll do just that against the Packers on Sunday Night Football.  Aaron Rodgers is still one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks, and the Packers were surprisingly busy this offseason by adding free agents like Preston Smith, Za’Darius Smith, Adrian Amos and more. They also have two first round picks to add talent. That said, this is a six-win team and a first-time head coach in Matt LaFleur playing against the MVP at Arrowhead.
