If the Chiefs enter the late rounds still in need of adding an edge player, these two could be developmental options.

Austin Bryant – Clemson

This list of prospects started with Clemson’s Clelin Ferrell and now we have his teammate Austin Bryant. The 6-3, 271 pound Bryant has the physical tools you’d look for in a much more highly coveted prospect but Bryant wasn’t really able to put it all together at Clemson.

What does the evidence say about Speaks, Kpassagnon?. light. Trending

Maybe it never will happen or maybe Bryant was simply over shadowed by more elite prospects that are going to go early in this draft class. Bryant certainly flashes enough of a combo of speed/strength/size to be worthy of a late round developmental pick. If the Chiefs think they can improve his technique and consistency I would be fine with K.C. taking a shot on him as early as the fifth round.

Kyle Phillips – Tennessee

If you wanted a possible late round target for the Chiefs, a great one would be Kyle Phillips of Tennessee. Phillips didn’t have a ton of production but shows an intriguing mix of size (6-4, 273 pounds) and speed (4.68 seconds in the 40-yard dash) to be worth a look in the later rounds. Phillips is another player who could move around the line for K.C. (and did so in college as well). He also has been linked to the Chiefs this offseason.

Here’s a nice looking practice rep from Phillips where he flashes that power/speed combo.

So there you have it Chiefs fans: 11 different edge prospects that the Chiefs could target in the upcoming NFL draft. With the additions they have already made, do you think they will target one early on in this draft or will they focus on other areas first instead? Do you like this list of prospects or do you think I’ve left some out? Do you agree that the smaller speed rushers likely aren’t on the Chiefs radar? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below.
