The Kansas City Chiefs will be spending a couple days with former Brigham Young University linebacker Sione Takitaki this week.

The Kansas City Chiefs are zeroing in on a player Ian Rapoport is calling an “interesting draft sleeper” in former Brigham Young University linebacker Sione Takitaki.

The Chiefs and Tennessee Titans are among the teams hosting the former Cougars defender for official pre-draft visits this week to find out what he can offer at the next level.

The Fontana, California native weighs in at 6’1, 238 pounds and led the Cougars with 118 tackles last season after a unsettled start to his collegiate career.

Takitaki began his BYU football by getting kicked off the team his freshman season for an altercation and then he was suspended again his sophomore year for stealing. He took an entire year out of football in 2016, and the time away from the game gave him a chance to turn things around—an opportunity of which he took full advantage.

Takitaki returned to the game a married man in 2017 and became a full time starter for BYU, both at defensive end during his junior season and this last season as a linebacker. You can read more of his story here.

For the Chiefs, Takitaki would represent an interesting older rookie who would likely be a pro-ready addition for special teams if nothing else.
