The Kansas City Chiefs reportedly hosted Jaylon Ferguson, the NCAA’s all-time leader in sacks, for a recent visit at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Kansas City Chiefs continue to sift through potential prospects for the taking at the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft. Per Aaron Wilson, the latest visit came from Jaylon Ferguson, a defensive end from Louisiana Tech.

Ferguson has made a strong name for himself as a pass rusher extraordinaire given that he holds the record for most sacks in a career at the college level. He currently holds the NCAA sack record with 45 in his career at La. Tech, including an incredible 17.5 sacks last year alone.

As Wilson notes, Ferguson spent time with the Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens already, but plenty more teams will likely come calling to check out the defensive lineman up close. Such productivity is rare at the collegiate level, but Ferguson also comes with plenty of question marks as to how his skill set will translate at the pro level.

The Chiefs are in the midst of remaking their defensive front for new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Justin Houston and Dee Ford are out while Alex Okafor has been brought in to help stabilize the position. Ferguson would likely compete with Breeland Speaks and Tanoh Kpassagnon for real minutes opposite Okafor.

Ferguson, a 23-year-old, had 38 tackles along the line for Louisiana Tech, 26 of which went for a loss. He also had 3 passes defended and 2 forced fumbles. Such production might not fully translate, but it’s hard to ignore those kind of numbers outright.
