D’MONTRE WADE, CB

The Chiefs always bring in players that have connections to the Senior Bowl. Brett Veach is continuing that tradition by bringing in cornerback D’Montre Wade.

Wade didn’t start his career as a corner though; he converted from running back on request from his coaching staff when he attended Murray State. Wade also participated at the NFL Combine in 2018 and did well for himself showing that he has the athletic ability to play at the pro level.

Overall the switch from running back to corner seems to have worked out in Wade’s favor as he had spent all season on Kansas City’s practice squad before he was signed to a reserves/futures deal. With Steven Nelson’s contract having expired at the end of the season and the overall lousy play from the Chiefs corners this year, Wade has a very real chance to make the jump from the scout team to the 53-man roster this season.
