Meet the Kansas City Chiefs players who signed futures contracts
By Kody Latham
JOEY IVIE, DL
Joey Ivie’s time at Florida was spent as a rotational player for the Gators. His senior season was also his most productive one. Ivie amassed 26 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. All while playing through a thumb injury that bothered him that year. His thumb injury was not the most challenging trail that Ivie went through in college. In 2015 Ivie held his sister Jordan as she passed away after a car accident.
As devastating as that was Ivie continued to play and entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick for the Dallas Cowboys. He spent the entirety of preseason in Dallas before being waived during the cut downs to the final roster. He has also spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks since then. Ivie’s strength lies in his ability to put pressure on the quarterback from the defensive tackle position. If he can continue to develop he may find a home as a rotational player in the Chiefs new 4-3 defense.
