The Kansas City Chiefs and local police have identified the fan who used a laser pointer on Tom Brady during the AFC Conference championship game.

Two weeks ago, the Kansas City Chiefs lost another close game, this time an overtime thriller, to the New England Patriots to close their season in the AFC championship game.

During the game, it was clear to those watching with a close eye that someone in Arrowhead Stadium was using a laser pointer to try to distract Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

You can see one example of the laser-pointing fan here:

The Chiefs and local police have been working hard ever since the incident to identify and punish the fan, and according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, they have found their culprit. While a name hasn’t been released, it’s clear the fan has already been identified and banned for life from Arrowhead Stadium. In addition, further charges are coming.

Per Schefter, the Chiefs are wanting to make an example of this fan to deter further actions. That means they will be pressing legal charges against the fan for bringing in and using equipment banned from stadiums. If the Chiefs were light on the punishment—such as a simple fine—the idea is that maybe other fans would be tempted to do the same knowing it could be seen as a simple slap on the wrist.

Brady clearly wasn’t affected in the process given his performance in being able to put away the Chiefs, especially on the game’s final overtime drive. He also didn’t say a word about it after the game. However, there’s simply no room for a fan to conduct himself or herself in this way. It’s not only potentially dangerous but it’s embarrassing to a fan base to have someone acting so juvenile.
