Kansas City Chiefs projected to gain 6th round compensatory draft pick in 2019

The Kansas City Chiefs are projected to add an extra sixth round pick to their overall haul in the 2019 NFL Draft thanks to Bennie Logan.
The Kansas City Chiefs already have an extra pick in next year’s draft class thanks to the Marcus Peters trade, but the folks at Over the Cap are predicting they will also add another sixth-round choice in the 2019 NFL Draft.
The projections are out for this year’s compensatory picks and the Chiefs are expected to pick up a comp pick in the sixth thanks to the Tennessee Titans signing of former Chiefs defensive lineman Bennie Logan.
Recently installed draft rules in the last couple of years will allow teams like the Chiefs to trade compensatory picks, which gives an already aggressive general manager like Brett Veach a bit more firepower to work his way around the board and pick up the players he likes. Last year, Veach moved up quite a bit, trading up for second round choice Breeland Speaks as well as packaging a couple 7th round picks for the rights to Kahlil McKenzie in the sixth.
Logan played for the Chiefs for only a single season after coming over from the Philadelphia Eagles. He was intended to solve problems in the middle with the looming exit of Dontari Poe but Logan lasted a single year in K.C. before moving on. The Chiefs responded with a two-year signing of Xavier Williams from the Arizona Cardinals as well as the drafting of Florida State’s Derrick Nnadi in the third round of last year’s draft.
The Rams are the big winners of this year’s compensatory picks given that they are projected to pick up two third-round choices with the losses of Sammy Watkins (to the Chiefs) and Trumaine Johnson. The Patriots are also expected to land two third-round picks as well for Nate Solder and Malcolm Butler.
