Charles Omenihu, Defensive Lineman, Texas

For a 6’6 275 defensive lineman with 9.5 sacks and 16 tackles for a loss, not many people have heard the name Charles Omenihu. That might be a good thing for Kansas City.

Regardless of whether the Chiefs defense is a 3-4 or 4-3 base, Omenihu has the size and ability to play in either scheme. Omenihu stands out on film with his willingness to push through the middle of an offensive line and drive plays backward.

The most intriguing thing about Omenihu is his potential upside. Omenihu has had good production despite some technical flaws in his game. Omenihu often ends up with his pad level too high and needs to add some more moves to his pass rush arsenal, but if he corrects those mistakes he has pro bowl potential.

The Chiefs defense has a pretty decent amount of pass rushers on the roster, but with Dee Ford entering free agency and Justin Houston aging, Omenihu could be a productive pass rusher for the Red and Gold.

Charles Omenihu may have his draft stock soar if he tests well at the combine, but if the draft happened today he would likely be a 3rd or 4th round draft pick. Charles Omenihu could very well end up being a steal, and Kansas City would be happy to be the one making away with a player of Omenihu’s potential.
