Rock Ya-Sin, Cornerback, Temple

One of my favorite prospects in this class is Temple’s Rock Ya-Sin, and not just because he may have the best name in the 2019 NFL Draft. Ya-Sin is a one-year starter for Temple but has shown enough to be selected in April’s draft.

Ya-Sin is another tall corner, but his frame is more slight and he has some work to do on his footwork and technique. That said, Ya-Sin is an ultra-competitive corner who makes receivers earn every inch. Ya-Sin snagged two interceptions and batted away 12 passes his senior year. The Chiefs defense should look to add at least two corners this year, and Ya-Sin has intriguing upside.

There are plenty of questions to ask about Ya-Sin, but as NFL teams get the chance to interview and watch the Temple corner they will see the potential starter that many have forecasted.

The Chiefs would likely be able to add Ya-Sin with a day 3 pick in the draft, and they would secure a player with high upside who could start in a year or two. It is possible that if Rock Ya-Sin tests very well in the combine he could sneak into the middle to the late 2nd round.
