The holiday season is here, so let’s compile a wishlist of players for 2019 that could help fix the Grinch that is the Kansas City Chiefs defense.

Another week, another atrocious defensive performance from the Kansas City Chiefs defense. I raved last week about the failures of Bob Sutton and I firmly believe that there will be a different figurehead for the Chiefs defense next season.

The Chiefs defense left Patrick Mahomes on the sideline to watch as they gave up a game-winning touchdown to the Seattle Seahawks in the last four minutes of the game, something all four of the Chiefs losses have in common this year.

All of that said, not all of the blame falls on Bob Sutton. It has been evident this season that Brett Veach and Andy Reid failed to find competitive and competent pieces for the Chiefs defense. This is partially due to the difficult cap situation that the Chiefs were in, but they also made some bizarre decisions in the 2018 NFL draft. I still tend to believe that Veach has a plan, as I wrote about here all the way back in October.

If the Chiefs want to take advantage of Patrick Mahomes’ contract friendly year, they must load up on talent on the defensive side of the ball. There are holes on the offense as well, but Mahomes has shown the ability to cover up some of those shortcomings with his natural ability.

I am aware that the Chiefs may not get any of these players, and you are free to mock me in the comments below, but it is Christmas time and this is my wishlist for 2019.

All of that said, here are 10 players from free agency and the 2019 NFL Draft that the Chiefs faithful would be ecstatic to find under the proverbial Chiefsmas tree this offseason.
