Devin Bush, Jr., LB, Michigan (Round 2)

Despite the trade for Reggie Ragland a year ago and the signing of Anthony Hitchens earlier this year, the Chiefs have a need at linebacker that’s as great as it was when Derrick Johnson started to obviously fade as a three-down option.

Enter Devin Bush, Jr., a junior linebacker from Michigan who has roamed the heart of this strong Big Ten defense for a couple years. Bush would be a dynamic option in the middle who could stay on the field all three downs, showing nicely as he’s grown in coverage this past year. He’s got the speed and range to play immediately at the next level and the experience and intelligence to be an impact in the middle from the start of his rookie season.

Unfortunately for the Chiefs, the question would be more about whether or not Bush will last this long in the draft. Todd McShay has Devin Bush going all the way at No. 21 in the first round—a full 30 slots higher than the Chiefs will be picking with their first of two second-round choices. Mel Kiper is also high on him and projects he’ll go early.
